Strategic placemaking through a minimalist shared meal

In August, Nelson Gallery (Redhead’s sister business) hosted Stone Soup: a community block party potluck that turned our Downtown Lansing street into one long, communal dining table. Designed as a placemaking activation, the event invited neighbors and business owners on the street to pause, connect, and experience the joy of a simple shared meal in the heart of the district. Redhead created a cohesive mid-century visual identity for the event, and produced invitations, tickets, social media assets, activity placemats, and on-site materials that tied the evening together. The result was a warm, welcoming moment of connection that transformed a public space through shared experience.
